MRCPCH Part 2 exam format

The MRCPCH Part 2 examination consists of two papers with candidates given two and a half hours to complete each section. The objective of the MRCPCH Part 2 examination is access each candidate's clinical knowledge and decision making skills in all areas of paediatrics and child health. The MRCPCH 2 questions will be formatted in the style of Best of Five and extended matching questions.

Example MRCPCH Part 2 question:

A 2-year-old girl presents with a short history of fever and cough. Her CXR is shown. Which of the following is the most likely diagnosis:-

  • 1. Lung contusion and posterior rib fracture due to NAI
  • 2. Lung metastasis from Wilms tumour
  • 3. Lymphoma
  • 4. Right lower lobe collapse due to foreign body aspiration
  • 5. Round pneumonia
